EFT is a mind-body-spirit self-help approach for physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure. According to its developer, Gary Craig, a disruption in energy is the cause of all negative emotions and pain. EFT is a form of acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat emotional and physical ailments with the use of finger tapping instead of needles. Tapping with the fingertips on specific meridian endpoints of the body, while focusing on negative emotions or physical sensations, helps to calm the nervous system, rewire the brain to respond in healthier ways, and restore the body’s balance of energy.
